The 44th Army Band of the New Mexico National Guard will be conducting open auditions for all musicians, see below for requirements:
- Must play a wind instrument, drum set, bass, guitar, or keyboard.
- Interested vocalists must have great stage presence and memorized selections.
- Must be between the ages of 17-34.
- Must call Sergeant William Wadsworth at 505-231-3345 to pass a pre-qualification screening.
- Must be able to perform the National Anthem, The Army Goes Rolling Along, and three short selections that demonstrate your best qualities as a musician.
- There is no requirement to have a degree in music or be in a music degree program.
Army Musicians can expect to:
- Get 100% tuition assistance at New Mexico Schools
- Qualify for the Chapter 1606 Montgomery G.I. Bill
- Qualify for Tricare for the Guard and Reserve
- Perform in musical tours around New Mexico and occasionally travel outside of New Mexico
- Perform a wide variety of music including, but not limited to:
- Concert band
- Brass Quintet
- Woodwind quintet
- Rock
- Pop
- Country
- Mariachi
- New Orleans Brass Band
