Welcome to the New Mexico Pageant of Bands Web Site. This annual event provides a venue for over 2,000 New Mexico high school students to exhibit their skills and receive feedback from nationally recognized judges and is based on band size, not school size. The New Mexico Pageant of Bands is a nonprofit organization promoting performance excellence and sportsmanship in high school marching band competition. For more information see our About page.
The 38th New Mexico Pageant of Bands Marching Competition will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Wilson Stadium in Albuquerque.
Plan On Attending! Band members, directors and staff have worked hard to compete in this Pageant. Please show your support and appreciation by filling the stands! Invite family, friends and neighbors to attend. Ticket prices at the gate are are $10 for adults, $7 for high school and college students as well as seniors and military. Free admission for middle school and younger. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, October 21 at Wilson Stadium. Gates will open at 8:00am. First band around 8:30am.
Band Directors – It’s not too late to submit your Program Sheets for the 38th POB! – If you haven’t already done so, your Program Sheet is needed for inclusion in the POB Program. It can be entered on-line or from our Band Directors page.
Deadline for Submitting a Band Booster Ad extended to September 27. – Band Booster organizations can purchase a full page ad in the POB Program booklet To celebrate their band for only $75. Download the revised POB Band Booster Ad form.
POB Group Photography Pre-Orders Available Online! The 2017 POB photography will be supplied by Bellaments. Band group photos are $20 for a formal 8×12 color print or $30 for two 8×12 color prints, including one formal and one “funny”. Orders can be placed on the day of the event or pre-ordered by mail or on-line. Prints will be shipped to the address provided on the form for a $5 fee. Payment must accompany all orders. Advertise in the POB Program – The New Mexico Pageant of Bands Program is available for purchase at the competition for $5. It provides a guide to the competition with information on each band and their group picture from the previous year. It is a very popular keepsake for students, parents and band staff with over 800 distributed each year. Your business may advertise in the POB Program booklet. La Cueva High School band student Eliana O’Brien has been selected for the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. She is one of 125 high school marching band members among the millions in the United States to be selected.
Eliana has been drum major in the La Cueva Marching Band for two years. She also plays euphonium in the wind symphony, trombone in the jazz band, and works as a pianist/keyboardist at a local church. She is also an All-State musician and a member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony.
On Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, O’Brien will perform with the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band, earning an all-expenses-paid trip to San Antonio, Texas. The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band performs each year at halftime of the nationallytelevised U.S. Army All-American Bowl for high school players.
